Lip
products are my Achilles’ heel. I own more lip products than any other beauty
item by a long way. I like how easily you can change your face, complexion and
look by simply applying lipstick in different colours dependent on mood.
Another thing I like about lip products is that price doesn’t really predict
quality. Of course, buying an expensive lipstick like Guerlain or Tom Ford will always feel like a treat. The main difference between high and low end
products, I find, is the packaging and the name you’re buying into. But
formula varies greatly, I've tried some budget products that have been amazing
and some high-end products that have been less so. I think this crosses over to
other beauty products too but I find it more applicable to lips.
Anyway,
I’ll get to my point: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms are rather very good. They
retail for around £8 and are currently on offer for 3 for 2 at Boots. One of the main reasons I love Revlon Matte Balms is because the
formula is just so damn nice. It’s matte yet nourishing, it has a low-key mint
scent which disappears quite quickly so don’t let that put you off if you’re
not too keen on mint. The pigmentation is brilliant too- one application gives
you full opacity. The chubby crayon (similar to Clinique’s but I prefer Revlon
shhh) is retractable and doesn’t need sharpening. The
outside of the packaging also denotes the colour inside which is really handy and reduces faffing about. Revlon Matte Balms are just really
practical, easy and fun lip products to use regardless of price.
I
picked up the three shades I have on a 3 for 2 offer from Boots. They are Unapologetic, Sultry, and Standout.
I’ll start with my least favourite of these, Unapologetic. This is simply because the colour doesn’t suit me.
The other 2 colours are repurchases so I took a gamble while buying online. Unapologetic is not the colour for me,
which is odd because on paper it sounds perfect but this fuchsia pink just
doesn’t go with my colouring. But don’t let that put you off, it’s received
great reviews elsewhere online, it’s just not for me.
Moving
onto my favourites. I’ll start with Revlon Colorburst Matt Balm in Sultry (which I believe is a dupe for
MAC Twig, I don’t have that lipstick though). OMG I LOVE this colour, it is the
perfect mid-toned mauve rose and I basically think everyone should have this.
It applies nicely even when the bullet is worn down, it wears well throughout
the day and moisturises pleasantly. Out of all my lip products this is one of
the most repurchased. Sultry is just
a brilliant shade for me and I absolutely love the formula.
My
other favourite is Standout, a
stunning red with cool undertones. One application gives a full red while two
deepens the shade (on my pale skin). Again the formula is amazing- a rich,
buttery matte that feels soft on the lips with a very good wear time. They're
not as long wearing as say the new Bourjois Velvet Lipsticks but
you’d have to go some to beat Bourjois. Those babies don’t move for no-one.
If
all that was TLDR (and I wouldn’t blame you) here’s the short version: the
colour selection of Revlon Matte Balms is amazing with superb pigmentation and
the formula is incredible for a “budget” brand. You should definitely have at
least one of these lip products in your collection- I’ll definitely be adding
more to mine.
Do
you love Revlon Matte Balms as much as me?

I love these, they're so easy to keep in your bag and touch up during the day. I've not tried the matte versions, I'm quite wary of matte - your lips need to be in good shape to start with!
ReplyDeletethey're really quite buttery so not a "dry" matte like MAC for example xx
DeleteI've never tried any of these, but I feel like I'm missing out! Love these shades too!

you should definitely give them a try!
DeleteI have one in Fierce and it's really flattering even though it's a bit vampy.
ReplyDeleteI need to pick that one up x
DeleteThese shades look lovely, I haven't tried any of these balms before but I have heard so many great things about them!
