Lancome Juicy Shakers* are the grown up, sleeker version of the 90s classic Juicy Tubes. I’ll be honest I wasn’t a big fan of Juicy Tubes, I always found them to be too sticky on the lips. However, Juicy Shakers are oil based so thankfully you don’t get that tackiness, instead lips feel nourished. The Juicy Shakers contain sweet almond oil, omega 3 and cranberry oil to soothe and treat lips. They’re bi-phase so pigment separates from the oils. To get a stronger hit of colour you give the little bottles a good old shake. If you’re looking for a lip product that gives full on colour these aren’t for you. I would try to keep your mind open though as I’m usually an opaque matte kind of woman but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with these and I actually think I’m going to pick up either a red or bright pink one. And speaking of colours there’s a good selection here, totalling 14 to choose from.
First up is Show me the Honey*. This is a light peach wash perfect for the barely there peachy lip trend. This feels like summer in a bottle so I’m grasping on to this tightly as we’re heading for those miserable autumn months. Yeah sure the trees changing colour is pretty but the reality is that it’s cold, wet and awful until about May next year. So yes, I’ll be applying this and sitting under my UV lamp until spring. Oh and btw application is one of the best things about the Juicy Shakers. The packaging is reminiscent of cocktail shakers and when you take the lid off a large sponge applicator is revealed. It looks very different from your standard doe foot applicator. When you shake the bottle the very tip of the applicator soaks up pigment and oil then you can either dab it on your lips and purse or swipe across. You basically can’t go wrong with application. Also each Juicy Shaker has it’s own distinct smell so if you do decide to get one definitely consider it’s scent too.
The second Juicy Shaker I have is called Piece of Cake* and is very similar to my natural lip colour, a kind of rose mauve pink. I’ve just been sitting smelling it for ages to try and describe it to you, I much prefer it over Show me the Honey (which ,wait for it, smells like honey, but a very sweet honey). Piece of Cake can only be described as smelling like birthday cake, I can definitely pick up icing and sponge, or maybe I’m projecting? Whatever it is I really do love the smell of it. I find Piece of Cake is more pigmented than Show me the Honey and shows up on my lips better. If you are going to test them definitely give them a thorough shake to see what level of colour you can get out of them.
I have to say I’ve been won over by these. I’m not typically a lip gloss kind of woman and I’ll more often than not pick a bold colour but over the couple of weeks I’ve been testing these I’ve reached for them a lot, Piece of Cake more than Show me the Honey which is just down to personal preference. Now that we are moving into the harsher weather I can see me getting much more use out of them. If you’re looking for a lip product that’s soothing, with a wash of colour and fun to use I’d definitely recommend giving Lancome Juicy Shakers a go. (I blogged about some of my most loved Lancome products previously here)

ha yes! I didnt realise it was quite so big but it works really well with the pigmented lip oils, lipstick might be a very different story! ;)
DeleteMini cocktail shakers, love it! Not come across these but I do need a new gloss... (any excuse!)

perfect timing then! :D
DeleteSuch cute packaging! I love that subtle, peachy shade!
ReplyDeleteI really do love the packaging, I think it's particularly nice when there's clearly been a lot of thought gone into it. It feels like Lancome has actually made an effort! ;)
DeleteI have been looking at these for a while, but wasn't sure about the applicator. Might pick one up now. 😊

ReplyDeletewhen I first saw it I was like whoah but it works surprisingly well, plus there's only slight pigmentation so you really cant go wrong with application. I'm surprised by how much I've took to it but I do think half of it is the novelty of the packaging :)
DeleteI never did try the Juicy Tubes but I was excited by the look of these. In terms of colour there's not a huge amount between them is there, but I tend to use mine more for skincare than make-up as my lips suck it all up quite quickly so it doesn't last, but it does help ease my dry lips x

you know I think you've just summed them up, they definitely fall much more in the skin care category. They work amazingly as lip oils with a bit of colour.
DeleteThese look great, I definitely want to give one a try!
