MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in New Temptation

MAC Sheen Supreme in Sweet Temptation is a lovely entry level red for those too scared to go full opaque initially, although this does built up to a more intense colour. This is actually my first MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick (it was a much appreciated Christmas present, thanks mum!), I usually buy MAC’s mattes, and more specifically Ruby Woo but I really like this lipstick. It’s a great formula. It’s high-sheen and really moisturising. MAC say:

“Combining the colour impact of a Lipstick with the shine sheen of a Lipglass, Sheen Supreme creates the perfect hybrid – with no compromise. Lightweight, non-sticky, slick to apply and comfortable to wear. This is a must-have for all those who have craved this kind of fusion.”

Despite it being incredibly moisturising the longevity of this is really good. It’s a semi-opaque finish but highly pigmented. MAC describe Sweet Temptation as a ‘vivid blue-red’ on me I’d say it’s a cherry like glaze. The formula reminds me of Bobbi Brown’s Sheer Lip Color actually the packaging and bullet shape are very similar. MAC’S offerings are slightly cheaper though so I’d recommend going for MAC’s. BUT, after playing about with this for a wee bit there's an even cheaper alternative with a very similar formula: Revlon's Lip Butters.

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Ruby Tuesday 715, and Creme Puff in Translucent

max factor makeup

I often bypass Max Factor lipsticks for Revlon’s in Boots, which is a bit rubbish in my part as I’m really quite impressed with this Max Factor Colour Elixir lipstick in Ruby Tuesday 715. Ruby Tuesday is a ‘vintage’ red, with pink/cool undertones. It’s a very moisturising lipstick which unfortunately gives it some problems, especially with being red. It has a tendency to bleed out a bit and it transfers everywhere. Blotting and reapplying helps the longevity of this product. Once it wears off a little bit you’re left with a nice, pinky tint. There’s also a slight scent and taste that might be off-putting for some but it’s definitely not overpowering. It hasn’t stopped me from using it.

While this isn’t a perfect lipstick I do really like it, it’s a great colour and the quality’s good for the price (£7.99). I will be trying some other shades from the range.

Oh Creme Puff I want to like you but I’m just undecided. I blindly bought translucent and well, that was a mistake. It’s too dark for my skin tone, if you’re of mid-tone this would be a great colour for you, but it’s clearly not translucent. Another reason I’m a but weary of this product is its smell. It is HIGHLY scented, which on the one hand is lovely because it reminds me of my gran when I was a young girl. The smell takes ages to settle down. So, if you don’t like scent this is *definitely* not for you. There are positives though: it gives a nice soft focus to the skin with very little product and it also provides high coverage. If you fancy trying this out I’d really recommend having a look at it in store. Again I got mine from Boots for £5.99

have you tried either of these products?

New Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Smooths, Restores, Corrects.

I have been using this generous sample of the new Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Smooths, Restores, Corrects (not the catchiest of names) for a couple of weeks now. Ideally I’d like to give it a fuller run but I don’t have any left! Unusually for many bloggers I’m actually in the age range these types of products are aimed at (late 30s). My skin is starting to show signs of ageing so I should be able to tell if a product is any good or not, for me at the very least. A brief overview of my skin type: I’m very pale with combination/sensitive skin. My skin is easily irritated and things like medication don’t help.

So, what did I make of this product? I really quite like it, a lot. There’s several reasons why this works for me:

: It hasn’t caused any irritation or caused breakouts. This is something I worry about with these types of products, but thankfully it’s been incredibly nice on my skin.

: It sinks in easily. Having combination skin means that sometimes a product leaves my t-zone too oily or dry areas uncomfortable. Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus sinks in easily and quickly all over my face. This also makes it easier to layer up with other moisturisers. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all.

: My skin is much smoother and softer. I noticed this almost immediately and the texture has been improved. I’d need to use it longer to see if it had any real effect on wrinkles around my eye area. But I’m impressed with the change in just a couple of weeks.

There’s only one thing stopping me from buying a full-size bottle of this product and it’s this bad boy:

I was very kindly given Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair for my Christmas. I’m going to start testing this out properly soon, I’ll let you know how I get on.

Have you tried Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus? How did you find it?
