Recent Purchases I am Loving

shirt with eye details on the collar

Autumn/Winter is by far my favourite season to buy for. In terms of practicality I get much more wear from autumn/winter clothing living in Scotland than I do summer clothes, which I have very little of. In fact dressing for the summer for me usually means not wearing a vest, and most of the time I still do. I love the summer though, I wish we got more of it here but alas I just have to settle with a bit less rain (sometimes). This year though, I’m trying to cut back on my spending so I’m only adding a few new items to my already overflowing wardrobe and just soldiering on with what I’ve got. It’s hard work.

I was pretty happy with my clothes but when I saw Bo from the wonderful Stromvoe had bought the above shirt from Zara I knew I needed it and I’m so glad I bought it. I live in shirts and I love one with unusual details. It’s only £19.99 too. I went for a size L which is a solid 14 I’d say. It does go up to a XXL but unfortunately that’s sold out online. So yeah, I’m very happy with this addition to my wardrobe and I can just wear vests on colder days. (I'm sorry I like vests).

boots similar to acne jenson

Pregnancy ruined my feet, they got wider and just stayed that way. I’ve always had problems getting footwear that I find comfortable due to spinal damage and some other assorted mobility problems so extra foot problems really are the icing on the shitcake. I can’t wear really high heels but something too flat isn’t great either so it is a bit tricky finding something both practical and not horrible looking. I was looking for a pair of Acne Jensen dupes when someone kindly linked to Primark on Twitter ( thank you Cardigan Jezebel). I went along the other day to have a look but they didn’t have any of the ones in but I did see the above boots which are kind of similar. They don’t have the detail at the front and the heel’s are slightly higher/different shape but they’re close enough for me plus they’re only £12. Besides this the budget Primark boots are actually really comfortable to wear. If you are usually a wide fit I’d definitely recommend having a look at these boots. Another purchase I’m really pleased with. You can have a look at the selection Primark has here, although I can't seem to find the ones I bought on there. Seriously Primark needs to start selling online. Your shop is too big and vast for someone with mobility/chronic pain to cope with, sort it out please.

powder to set and brighten the complexion

I see NYX HD Finishing Powder coming up on Instagram a lot. I was planning on getting the transclucent version but it IS ALWAYS SOLD OUT, ALWAYS (having said that I now see it’s in stock in Boots online). Anyway, I decided to pick up the Banana version and it is BRILLIANT. The soft, pressed powder is a yellow colour (my camera isn’t picking it up for some reason). When I’m using this I definitely don’t need to use powder as much through the day. It sets makeup wonderfully plus has a really nice brightening effect on my pale skin. Initially I thought it’d be too powdery but I can barely detect it sitting on my skin. There’s also a mint green version to help colour correct redness. I will also be picking up the translucent version.

treatment to smooth and shine hair

Finally is the wonder product Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. Pregnancy also did a funny thing to my hair. The left hand side now as curls/waves in it that it never had before and it’s become quite coarse, it was always thick but it’s actually become thicker. Also I haven’t been able to get to the hairdresser’s for months due to poor health so yeah my hair needs a little bit of help. I’m always wary of these much-hyped products, usually when I try them I just don’t have that much success but Elasticizer is different, it actually works, and works amazingly well. This pre-shampoo deep conditioning treatment was created for Audrey Hepburn no less to help with lifeless, over-treated, coarse hair to give back bounce, shine and sleekness. And it really does deliver. I am so impressed with this treatment. If your poor hair is suffering with too much heat or dyeing or in need of a serious pick-me-up I highly recommend giving Elasticizer a go. It’s absolutely brilliant.

  5. I can highly recommend the NYX translucent powder - in my experience, if it's not in one of the Glasgow Boots it'll be in the other, though I appreciate there's a bit of a walk in between! I hadn't heard of the banana powder though, as a fellow pale-skinned one I am intrigued!
