The Body Shop Down to Earth Eyeshadow Palettes

the best eyeshadow palettes

When you think about The Body Shop you probably think about skin care, Christmas presents and body butters (which are amazing btw). But The Body Shop has a great range of makeup too and well worth checking out if you’ve never tried it. They used to do one of my favourite compact foundations ever but unfortunately, as is the way with these things, they discontinued it. I’m also a big fan of their face powders and lipsticks. Overall though, The Body Shop makeup is great (oh they also do a clear lip liner) that I highly recommend, it stops colour bleeding around the lips).

When I received two new eyeshadow quad palettes I was keen to see if they lived up to my previous experience of their makeup. I have the Smoky Gold palette* and Smoky Black palette*. But there’s a range of colours available and also a palette containing 8 shadows called Glow palette which I really like the look of.

vegan friendly makeup

I’ll start with the Smoky Gold palette*. I’ve been using this pretty much everyday since I got it around 2 weeks ago. It is the perfect everyday palette. The first shade, a kind of pale bone is true matte and is perfect for a base if you’re pale. It evens out discolouration nicely. There’s no drop out, the shadow just feels creamy and pigmented. Next to it is a beautiful shimmer gold, this has a beautiful butter texture and applies nicely. The next colour is a darker gold, almost copper shimmer that’s again buttery and easy to apply. The final shade is a dark matte brown, perfect as a liner too. All of these shadows apply easy, no drop out, no creasing and lasts well throughout the day even without primer. The shadows can also be applied wet which deepens the effects of the shadows. The perfect everyday shadows for me.

makeup for the evening

Next is the Smoky Black palette*.This is the perfect quad for creating an evening smoky eye look (in fact it has a guide if you’re unsure how to create it). The first shadow is a pale, iridescent silver/blue, next to that is a much darker shimmer blue but I find it applies much darker than it looks in the pan. Then there’s a dark blue/grey with sparkles and finally a matte black. Similarly to the other quad, all eyeshadows feel buttery and apply easily, consistency seems retained across all the shadows in the quads. What I also really like about the palettes is that you can remove the individual eyeshadows to make up your own mix of colours.

the best cruelty free makeup brushes

To go with the new eyeshadows The Body Shop has also newly released a double-ended eyeshadow brush*. I can’t recall using brushes from The Body Shop before, I usually use Zoeva or Real Techniques.  I am really impressed with this little cruelty free brush. The bristles are soft but still compact making eyeshadow application easy and the other side creates a lovely liner. I’m so impressed with it that I’m actually going to try some more brushes from The Body Shop, do you have any favourites?
