There’s many, many things I enjoy about blogging. The main
thing though is connecting with other people whether it’s other bloggers,
readers, PRs or brands. There’s a hugely social element to blogging and the
foremost reason I started blogging. So when a small start up contacted me about
their hemp based skincare for sensitive/allergy prone skin I was pretty
excited. Of course, it’s brilliant when big established companies want to work
with you but for me I love seeing a brand trying, to not only, enter the market
but have an incredible ethos too. I’ve also been chatting with one of the
founders and she is incredibly driven and just wants her product to help people.
It’s been an absolute pleasure.
Hemptouch know all about sensitive skin and decided to make
their own products to deal with troubled skin. The products are aimed at
soothing and improving sensitive skins, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis. What
impresses me is that they really know the paper trail of the ingredients used.
Hemptouch uses only verified origin and certified herbal ingredients. The main
ingredient- the hemp plant- is rich in skin soothing properties thanks to the
cannabinoids it contains (unfortunately it won’t get you high), the hemp flower
hydrolate is also rich in antioxidants, and raw hemp oil is full of omegas and
amino acids. Finally, I think, people are realising how wonderful the hemp
plant is especially in medicine and skincare. For more info about Hemptouch and
their production process have a look here.
My son has the occasional flare up of eczema and also has
sensitive skin, and I have sensitive skin with some dermatitis on my arms, so I
was keen to try out these products. I’ll start with the Hemptouch PurifyingFace Cleanser*. This soothing and hydrating cleanser has the trilogy of hemp
ingredients mentioned above and as a result you really feel nourished and
cleansed after use. I use this foaming cleanser in the morning and it leaves my
skin feeling super soft without stripping my skin. It produces a soft lather
that easily washes off your face with water leaving no residue. If you have
oily skin, acne prone or just easily irritated this would be perfect for you.
The hemp oil won’t block your pores and will help reduce sebum (oil)
production. Hemptouch Purifying Face Cleanser is a wonderful product and I
wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. To buy go here or here (Planet Organic currently have 25% off).
Next is the Hemptouch Nurturing Face Cream*. Again this product
contains the trilogy from the hemp plant. Dehydrated skin will especially like
this but I think all skin types will benefit from this. This is a rich and very
soothing cream packed full of the best ingredients to help restore damaged skin
or to help retain well kept skin. If you suffer from rosacea and you’ve
struggled to find a cream that doesn’t irritate it will be worth it to give
this a try. Hemptouch Nurturing Face Cream is a tad too rich for me during the
day at the moment although come winter I will be slathering this on. For a night
time cream this is perfect for me. My skin feels wonderfully soothed (I have
sensitive/combination skin) and thanks to rose flower and hyaluronic acid my
skin is looking plumped. I also love that Hemptouch aren’t branding this as
anti-ageing/anti-wrinkle/youthful etc etc instead they’re just listing the
results this will give. I cringe at anti-ageing, what doesn’t that even mean?
Of course I’m ageing that’s the nature of the game. It’s unavoidable. I would
just like to take care of my skin the best I can without very much hassle and I
think Hemptouch Nurturing Face Cream is perfect for that without all that awful
advertising spiel. It’s suitable for all
ages. (25% off at Planet Organic here)
Finally is the product that has barely left my bedside table
Hemptouch Ointment for Irritated Skin*. This ointment (it’s like a balm) is a
fantastic all-rounder. In the evening and during summer my arms become
especially dry and painful. I had been using other creams (Aveeno) which gave
me temporary relief for say an hour or so before I felt I had to reapply but
this ointment is a god send. I melt a small amount in my hands and smear over
my arms and it surprisingly sinks in really well given how rich this is. I’ve
also used it on my son with no problem and he declared it as “nice”. As well as
containing the three ingredients of the hemp plant the ointment also contains
German chamomile, calendula and lavender to help restore the skin’s damaged
barrier. This multi-use balm is also ideal for babies with nappy rash as it
soothes without causing further irritation. I’ve also been using it to help my
incredibly dry cuticles and nails as well as any other little skin irritations
and it’s just a brilliant ointment. (25% off here)
Oh and you’re probably wondering about the smell of these
products. They have a refreshing green smell,
there is no horrible synthetic fragrance here. I really like the smell - all
products smell the same - it’s not a floral fragrance so would definitely
appeal to both men and women. It's almost like cut grass, wonderful. Also, all
of Hemptouch products are vegan friendly, not tested on animals, contains no
alcohol or synthetic ingredients which can cause irritation.
I’m so impressed by everything about Hemptouch. These
are people that genuinely care about their product and want to help people with
skin problems in an authentic way. Hemptouch don’t want to sell you products
based on the myth of youthfulness. Instead these are solid products that will
(hopefully) help your skin to be the best it can regardless of how damaged it
is or how old (or young) you are. So if you’re looking for no bullshit ethical indie
brand that cares please do give Hemptouch a try.
Planet Organic are currently offering 25% off Hemptouch products here. Perfect if you want to give them a try.
