Soothing Skincare from The Body Shop

skincare for sensitive dry skins

I go on about facial skincare a lot on here but often neglect the rest of my body. My skin becomes especially dry and extra sensitive during the colder winter months so I do have to make sure I remember to care for it. The Body Shop has a new range that is perfect for us sensitive types, I’ll share some of my poetry with you later. It contains one of my most favourite things in the whole world: honey. I love to eat it, smell it, and rub it all my face and body (when it’s in skin care products people, it’s just too sticky otherwise). The new range also contains the wonderfully soothing Almond Milk. Almond milk is one of The Body Shop’s new ingredients within their Community Trade Programme. The honey comes from the Sheka rainforest biosphere reserve where “bee whisperers” of Beza Mar collect the honey. Also, the aim is to help preserve the traditional way of working with bees and to improve the local workers' lives. I dunno about you but I’m very interested in finding out more. Hey The Body Shop! I’d very much like to see a film about this.

I’ve been using four products from the new The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey range but there’s ten products in total covering every body care need. I’ll start with The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream*. Have you used The Body Shop’s shower gels/washes? Oh my God, they are seriously underrated. I was given a raspberry one in a set at Christmas and it is amazing. It smells good and doesn’t strip the skin. I’m also really impressed with the Almond Milk & Honey offering. The fragrance of all these products leans towards the honey side, which I absolutely love. It’s very gentle and not overpowering at all. The creamy texture actually leaves your skin feeling moisturised after showering. This is a brilliant choice for sensitive skins.

Surely one of the main products associated with The Body Shop is their body butters. They’re one of my favourite products and I can see the new Almond Milk and Honey body butter* being on my to repurchase over and over again lists (yes, I have a list like this, what of it?). Like all the body butters this is a thick cream that I find perfect for evening application after a bath. It soothes, hydrates and leaves my skin feeling super soft and cared for.

Another favourite from this range is the Gently exfoliating Cream Body Scrub*. One of the most difficult things with sensitive skin is finding a scrub that doesn’t irritate and flare up skin problems. I love a good exfoliation but my skin often feels red-raw and stripped after many that I’ve used but The Body Shop’s Almond Milk & Honey version is surprisingly soothing. It feels more like a moisturiser with a scrub in it. The scrub is made from crushed almond shells that I didn’t find to be harsh at all. If you have difficulty getting a scrub due to your sensitive skin I’d definitely give this a go. My skin was super smooth after use and so soft.

vegetarian friendly body care

My son tried the Almond Milk & Honey Soothing and Restoring Body Lotion and he said it was “niced” and made his “thoft” which I think is high praise indeed. He has very sensitive skin due to allergies and has occasional eczema. He might only just have turned 3 years old but he knows his own mind. I have to agree with his assessment. The light texture of this lotion means it sinks in quickly and is perfect after the shower in the morning, whereas the body butter version I prefer to use in the evening after a bath. I have a form of dermatitis on my arms and many products irritate it but this genuinely feels soothing and comfortable. I’m impressed with this product, I’d compare it with Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion but the fragrance is very different.

Overall I am very impressed with this range. My sensitive and dry skin loves it. My little boy loves what he tried too. It’s a range everyone in the family can indulge in. So if you have sensitive skin and find body care tricky I really recommend giving the new Almond Milk and Honey from The Body Shop a go. It launches today! (14/2).

Do you like the look of this new range? What do you like for sensitive skin?
