Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum

Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum

Despite having a combination skin type (oily-sensitive) my skin occasionally gets dehydrated. I think there can be a misconception that oilier skin types don’t get dehydrated. Often I find when my skin is producing too much oil it’s precisely because it’s dehydrated and the extra oiliness is down to the skin trying to compensate. I still hear stories of people being told not to moisturise oily skin, all skin types needs moisturisers and dehydrated skins often need more targeted treatments.

I drink lots of water and eat a relatively balanced diet but still (and rather unfairly, I think) my skin gets dehydrated, I think it’s largely to do with medication I take. Recently though I’ve been using quite a few products that have been making a noticeable difference, one of them is the amazing Boots Lift & Luminate Triple Action Serum (I did an initial review here but I’ll do one with my results soonish) and the other is Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum*. I’ve been using the SOS serum for 2 weeks now and so far so good. Here’s a few things about this serum first. It is certified natural and organic, it’s vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and also nut-free so brilliant with anyone suffering allergies. This is a professional strength serum containing ingredients such as sunflower seed oil, rose flower water, sodium hyaluronate and peony to rehydrated run down skin.

So, how did I actually get on with this serum? Pretty damn good. Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum works especially well with oilier skin types but dry skins will definitely benefit from this too. The reason it’s so great with oilier skin types is that it leaves absolutely no oily residue at all, or any kind of residue in fact it acts to mattify the skin slightly but dry skin types don’t run away! As soon as you put moisturiser on top the skin feels less tight again. And that is the sensation you get once the serum absorbs and it absorbs really quickly. The skin immediately feels slightly tightened which is odd for a rehydrating serum I thought but it is absolutely perfect for those oily types that want extra hydration without all that oiliness and tackiness that can occur with some serums.

Interestingly (well to me at least) it is a slightly peachy-pink coloured serum that is completely transparent on the skin so it doesn’t matter what your skin tone is. I’m not sure what the benefit is of it being this colour but I found it interesting nonetheless. The pump gives enough product to cover the whole face and the serum sinks in really quickly, quicker than many serums I’ve used. There’s absolutely no trace of product left just smooth skin. Over the two weeks I’ve been using it my skin looks noticeably “plumper” and just doesn’t look as dull as it had been looking. I’ve experience no irritation and it hasn’t caused any breakouts either. I use it morning and evening and there’s not much of a dent been made, I think this would last a good couple of months with regular use.

The one thing that did concern me about Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum is that it has a scent. I’ve had a look at the full ingredient list  and as far as I can see there’s been no fragrance added, it’s purely the smell of the products (do let me know if I’m wrong though!). I love the smell of it, it’s a soft, powdery scent that is actually quite evocative for me. As I said above I haven’t had any adverse reaction to this but do check the ingredient list to see if there’s anything in there that might cause problems for you.

Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum is another brilliant skin care product for me and if your skin is particularly parched with the summer weather or for any other reason it’s needing a bit of a pick me up perhaps you should give it a go to. It works especially well for oily but dehydrated skin types but will definitely suit all skin types. I also reviewed some other Madara products here.

Have you tried Madara SOS Hydra Repair Intensive Serum? Or any other Madara products?
