Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner

MERUMAYA GENTLE EXFOLIATING TONER

Merumaya is fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands. Everything I’ve tried so far has been wonderfully effective yet very gentle on my sensitive skin. You can read my review for their Youth Serum* here. Have you tried the Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel? I was thinking of giving that a go next.

Not only are Merumaya's products great, the brand’s ethos is brilliant too. Maleka who owns Merumaya is trying to transform how we think about ageing or more specifically how the beauty industry thinks about ageing. The beauty industry focuses on anti-ageing, an almost desperate grasping of youth that unavoidably slips away. We can’t halt the process. Instead, we should embrace it, it means we’re alive and as I get older I refuse to become an invisible woman to the beauty industry. Merumaya has come up with the pertinent hashtag #beautyhasnoage and there’s also a video here you can watch to see Maleka talk about this important message that’s vital for the beauty industry. I don’t want to feel I’m not young enough or pretty enough so I’m fully supportive of Merumaya’s philosophy.

After that mini-rant back to Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner*. The toner contains Natural AHAs with other moisturising ingredients to gently and effectively remove the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal a refined, brighter and smoother complexion. It also hydrates, thanks to Hyaluronic acid, and helps minimise blemishes. The hydrating ingredients help buffer the effect of the AHAs thus making it gentle for even sensitive skins. If you’ve used AHAs before you might know that they can be harsh on the skin and leave it feeling stripped or even raw. I’ve certainly experienced this with them.

MERUMAYA GENTLE EXFOLIATING TONER

I’ve been using Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner for a couple of weeks now in my morning and evening skin care routine. Yes, in both my morning and evening, it’s so gentle that I can use it twice if I want to. And I do have sensitive skin. I’ve started following Caroline Hirons’ Cheat Sheet so I’m using it just after cleansing and before my new favourite thing a face mist (I’m using the Mario Badescu one which I reviewed here). Despite its gentleness I’m finding it very effective. My skin is definitely much brighter and smoother. My skin doesn’t feel tight or uncomfortable after use, although initially it did feel a bit tingly but that’s settled down. I’m not experiencing any redness or irritation. It’s just a thoroughly good product to use and one that I’m definitely keeping in my skin care routine. If you have sensitive skin yet you want to try adding an acid exfoliator I’d recommend giving this a go.

Have you tried Merumaya yet?
