This is my first time trying Lily Lolo although I have heard very good things about the makeup from other bloggers. One of the main reasons I chose mineral foundation was convenience. I love liquid foundations but I wanted to try something a bit quicker that needs less work. I'm pregnant and completely knackered so every little helps.


I wasn't sure which colour would suit me so I picked a selection of samples, costing only £1.49 each. After playing about with the colours I decided China Doll suits me best. China Doll is a pale neutral with balanced undertones and it's not the lightest! For really pale folk Porcelain might be something to think about if you can never find anything pale enough.


Application is super-easy and quick. I use Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to apply the foundation after moisturising. As you can see from the before and after photo pregnancy is not being kind to my skin. I have discolouration and spots. In the after photo I'm only wearing Lily Lolo foundation, it does a remarkable job at evening out my skin and covering blemishes. It doesn't settle into pores or fine lines. For a more flawless finish I think I might try their concealer too. The foundation also lasts really well throughout the day, especially when doubled with the flawless matte finishing powder. Overall I'm really impressed with this foundation, in fact I've just purchased a full-size.

Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon in Red Sunrise

Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon is the latest offering on the burgeoning lip crayon market. I like lip crayons for their convenience, colour and instant moisturisation. I have Bourjois Lip Color Lip Crayon in Red Sunrise and this does a good job at all of these.


Red Sunrise is a fresh red-pink that really reminds me of the darker colour in a Tequila Sunrise, I think that makes it the perfect summer colour. There is a slightly fruity smell to this lip crayon, but nothing like Revlon Just Bitten Lip Balm which has an artificial mint smell. I don't think Bourjois' lip crayon is as good as Revlon's. Both give good colour, a semi-opaque pigmentation that can easily be built up. Revlon's lasts much longer on my lips though. Bourjois does that weird thing where you're left with colour around the outer lips but nothing central, wtf. 


Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon in Red Sunrise does feel nice on the lips and definitely gives lasting moisture. It's a shame the colour doesn't last brilliantly on the lips.

Topshop Lipstick in The Damned

Topshop lipstick in The Damned is a bright blackberry colour that after a while fades to a nice, pinkish tint. I really like this lipstick, it's moisturising and reasonably long-wearing. It's described as a velvet-finish, but I think it's too moisturising for this type of finish. Thankfully, it has no discernible taste or smell, which is a bonus. This lipstick is easy to apply. Once swipe is semi-opaque but it's easily buildable. 


The Damned would look good on most skin tone, especially the very lightest and darkest. I like to wear this colour with a light eyeshadow, completely neutralising the eyelid, and a bit of winged eyeliner. The colour really needs a nice neutral base otherwise it's just *too* much. Again this is another Topshop lipstick I'm impressed with. But Topshop, you really need to sort out your delivery prices. I always add lipstick to a clothes order, I'd never pay £4 for an £8 lipstick to get delivered, that's just mental.

China Glaze in Fifth Avenue

China Glaze in Fifth Avenue is a beautiful dusky rose, one of my most favourite nail colours to wear. It’s a shade that goes with almost anything and can be worn anywhere. It’s a subtle and very wearable colour. Fifth Avenue is easy to apply, even for someone like me who isn’t the greatest at applying nail polish. One coat would be enough but I’m wearing two in the photos. 

China Glaze contains China clay, a nail hardener (which also gives a porcelain-like finish), making it a perfect choice for people with weaker nails. China Glaze is also free from DBP, Toluene and added Formaldehyde.

Topshop Lip & Cheek Stain in Bitten Berry

I love a multitasking product. I would love to have the patience (and money) to use loads of different products honed to their specific requirements but, well, I just can't be arsed. So, when I saw Topshop's Lip and Cheek Tint in Bitten Berry I had to try it, plus it's only £7.

Topshop's Lip and Cheek Tint in Bitten Berry is a berry-red with blue undertones, making it perfect for cool-skin tones. I think it'd suit most skin colours, although it'd need to be built more on darker skin shades. This works brilliantly as a cheek tint. Only the tiniest amount of the gel-like liquid is needed to create a rosy glow that lasts all day. I'd recommend building this up slowly and it needs to be blended quickly otherwise you'll end up looking like a clown. 

For me, it doesn't work as great as a lip tint. It is lovely on the lips, but unfortunately it just doesn't last long. Even just as a cheek tint I think this is a great product.
