Sleek MakeUP Rose Gold Blush & A Comparison with Nars Orgasm

Sleek MakeUP's Rose Gold (£4.49) is unsurprisingly a rose blush with gold shimmer. It isn't glittery though thankfully, it provides a healthy looking glow similar to a highlighter.  Rose Gold is incredibly pretty and flattering. I think it'd suit most skin tones, from the very lightest to the very darkest. The palest will need to blend it out a bit more or it looks really obvious.


Rose Gold blends really well. I find the best thing to do is build is up slowly on my very pale skin. The blusher brush picks up the blusher easily due to its silky softness and high pigmentation. It lasts for ages too, it's one of the best performing blushes for my skin when it comes to longevity. 


I can't really fault this blush. It's a high performing blush with great colour and it lasts. And all for £4.49! Ace.

The Comparison with Nars Orgasm

Okay, let's get to the serious business. Stats:

Sleek's Rose Gold 8g for £4.49
Nars Orgasm 4.8g for £21.50

Both of these blushes have very similar textures. They're both silky smooth and easy to blend. I think Nars is just a bit easier to blend though, but nothing significant really.

Nars Orgasm is sheerer than the opaque Rose Gold which gives them a slightly different finish. But both provide that healthy, special love glow that Nars is named after.

On my skin Sleek's blush lasts longer before it fades. But both have reasonably good wear times.

Colour wise Rose Gold is a deeper pink with peachy undertones. While Orgasm still has peachy undertones it is a much brighter pink. When these are blended out on the skin they are really quite similar.

I have to say there really isn't that much in it. Orgasm is a more delicate colour though but Rose Gold can be blended out to achieve similar effect. You get almost double the product with Sleek at a fraction of the price so really if you want a blush that is incredibly similar to Orgasm but it just doesn't have the cult status I would highly recommend Sleek's Rose Gold.

Sleek MakeUP Pixie Pink Blush

Sleek MakeUP Pixie Pink Blush is a brilliant budget blush, amazingly it's only £4.49. Sleek's blushes really are great quality, rivalling the higher end versions. The ones I've tried have all been full of pigment, relatively easy to blend and also long-wearing. I actually find Pixie Pink easier to wear than Illamasqua's Katie, which has a white cast that can be draining.  Pixie Pink is much more flattering and warming on the skin for us pale folks.

Pixie Pink looks really bright in the pan but on the cheeks is really pretty and natural. It's a great blush for an English Rose look. The texture is smooth and finely milled. Even though it's easy to blend it can take a bit extra work than some other blushes (eg Illamasqua or Nars) but not overly so. I just needed to buff it out a bit more to blend it into my skin.

I really don’t think you can go wrong with blushes from Sleek. I previously reviewed Life’s a Peach and I’ve also got a review of Rose Gold coming up (which is almost a dupe for Nars' Orgasm but the colour's just not quite right). So yeh, I quite like them (a lot).

Philosophy The Great Mystery One-Minute Daily Facial

Philosophy’s The Great Mystery One-Minute Daily Facial* has become a favourite in my skin care regime. 

Philosophy say:

“Our one-minute facial was created to provide deep skin cleansing, exfoliation and purification. In record speed, without traditional irritation.

• contains sea salt for natural, therapeutic exfoliation”

I said in the other post that I’ve been needing a bit TLC and skin care is a good area to start in. Something that claims to provide the effects of a facial in a minute is always worth a go. I’ve been using this product in the mornings and evenings alternatively. It feels a bit decadent to be putting a face treatment on first thing in the morning but it really is a rather lovely way to start the day. Likewise, if you’ve had a bit of a stressful day or just fancy a bit of quick pampering this is perfect in the evening too.

The product itself is a rich gel like paste that smells of sea salt and lavender. I was a bit worried about it having sea salt in it, I envisaged it to be harsh and stripping on my skin but it really isn’t. I was also concerned that it’d be too concentrated given that it is supposed to work in a minute but again it isn’t. In fact I find it to be really soothing, as long as you don’t go over the minute, it can get a bit irritating. 

Philosophy’s The Great Mystery One-Minute Daily Facial is applied to cleansed skin. The product is translucent until it is massaged into the skin, this niftily turns it white, and then it’s left for a minute. And that’s it! Which is perfect for me, I like quick treatments that provide good results. The paste is quite thick so it can be tricky to remove. I found its best removed with a face cloths, like most treatments really. 

So, does it work? I think so. My skin definitely looks brighter, softer and hydrated. I stopped using it for a couple of days to see if there was any difference and it really was noticeable, well I noticed it anyway. There’s no feeling of uncomfortable tightness after use and my skin feels deeply cleansed. Also, I felt this helped control my oily t-zone throughout the day.

Sleek Life's a Peach Blush

Sleek's Life's a Peach Blush is a beautiful soft peach with slight pink undertones that make it very wearable. I've had this on rotation for the last month or so along with Illamasqua's Katie and Nars' Orgasm . It's much cheaper than Illamasqua or Nars, it's only £4.49! I think that's fantastic and if you're not keen on the Life's a Peach there's a wide selection of colours available:

Life's a Peach is a highly pigmented and reasonably long-wearing blush. I'd say it's on par with Nars in wear time (4-6 hours for me). I found it easy to blend and a little bit on the brush went a long way. The texture is finely milled with a matte finish. It really brightens the face up in these dreary months. I don't think you can really go wrong with Sleek's blushers, they're such good quality and cheap. Next on my list is Rose Gold.
