Sk:n Products Review ft. the Most Brilliant Moisturiser

review of sk:n

Skincare (skin care? skin-care? I dunno, whatever. Too much chocolate had addled my brain) has become increasingly important to me over the last few months. The main thing you can do, especially if you have younger skin (I’m 40 btw) is to use sun protection EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. That is by far one of the best preventative measures you can take to look after you skin. While I’ve trialled a lot of skin care recently (see these blogs for example, I use this all the time it’s so goodand this, and this too) I think I’ve finally hit on the perfect moisturiser for where my skin is at right now. And that’s very important too. There’s really no need to use anti-ageing in your teens or twenties, SPF and a decent cleansing routine with a good moisturiser for your skin type should set you right.

I’ll start with my least favourite product and that’s purely because I prefer a balm or oil to cleanse with as well as a face wash in the morning (I’ve been using an AMAZING one that I’ll blog about soon). But if you do love a cream cleanser Sk:n Vitamin Rich Cleanser* might just be perfect for you. The thick creamy cleanser contains a host of skin-loving ingredients such as Evening Primrose oil that soothes and heals, Allantoin moisturises dry and sensitive skin plus anti-oxidants Vitamin A, C, and E to help protect against free radicals. I found it to do a thorough cleanse and my skin felt soft and moisturised afterwards. I think this would work particularly well with dry and sensitive skins.

Next is one of the best moisturises I’ve used; it perfectly suits where my skin is at right now. It’s the Sk:n Age Delaying Cream for Younger Skin*.

Here’s what Sk:n say about it:

  • Hydrates the skin and helps delay the initial signs of skin ageing
  • Peptides target fine lines and loss of firmness by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid and strengthening collagen in the skin
  • Vitamin A helps regulate cell turnover
  • The anti-oxidants fight free radicals that damage the skin over time
Key active ingredients
  • Clinically proven peptides — stimulate the natural hyaluronic acid and collagen production within the skin to improve firmness and reduce lines and wrinkles.
  • Vitamins C & E - anti-oxidants that protect the skin from free radicals
  • Vitamin A — As we age the cell turnover decreases. Vitamin A stimulates this process leading to brighter younger looking skin
  • Shea Butter — softens, moisturises and helps regenerate cells”

I’ve been using this cream both day and night for several weeks now and I’m seriously impressed with it. I do like a low maintenance skin care regime so using this both in the morning and evening is brilliant. I do use less in the morning as it can be too moisturising for me throughout the day but in the evening I use much more. Due to the shea butter I find it sinks in slightly longer than some creams but once it’s sunk in it leaves me face completely hydrated and feeling fresh. I’ve also noticed a difference to the firmness of my skin and it just looks brighter. I have sensitive skin so I do tend to break out with some ingredients but I’ve experienced no problems with this, if anything the couple of hormonal breakouts I’ve had (I think I’m starting to go through peri-menopause but that’s another blog post) healed up much quicker. The only gripe I have is that you can’t see when you’re low in product, which is a bit of a pain because this is a definite repurchase from me. I’ll just have to live life on the edge and guess when I’m due a new bottle. You can purchase it here too  (I don't make anything from this, I just think it's a brilliant moisturiser for those in their late 30/early 40s).

best eye cream for sensitive eyes

And finally is the Sk:n Brightening and firming eye creamI must admit I usually don’t use a separate eye cream. I think if your moisturiser doesn’t irritate your eyes then it’s perfectly fine to use in that area. The eye cream contains:

  • Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) – an active with multi-benefits properties, it helps to prevent signs of ageing by targeting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Anti-Age Peptide – a clinically proven patented tripeptide that stimulates collagen production to improve firmness and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Reflective Optical Particles – fine particles which reflect and scatter light giving a soft focus effect and optical line filling.
  • Caffeine – a natural active, that helps reduce puffiness around the eye by stimulating blood flow.”

Now after saying I don’t think there’s a need for a separate eye cream I’ve been won over with this product. It’s a much more targeted treatment for issues around the eye area. I have fine laughter lines (which I’m rather proud of btw), some brown spots I developed during pregnancy, and my eyelids are becoming puffier. The reason I like this eye cream so much is because it tightens up my eye area and just feels refreshing which is nice for a glasses wearer, especially when applied in the evening when my eyes feel especially tired. It also brightens and softens the area which makes for nice makeup application. So yes, I’m sold on this product. If you’re looking for a good all-round eye cream I recommend giving Sk:n Brightening and firming eye cream a go.

Do you have your skin care regime down?
