Samaya Skincare and Self-Care (featuring possibly the best treatment oil ever)

natural but very effective antiageing skincare

This blog’s been a bit quiet of late, I’d like to be posting a bit more and a bit more regularly but as some of you may know I have chronic pain (I refuse to write “suffer” from, but that’s another blog post). Chronic pain isn’t just a symptom but also a disease in itself. As a disease it comes with a whole host of great symptoms like depression, anxiety, fatigue, compromised immune system, and insomnia to name a few of the brilliant things you get to enjoy with constant, agonising pain. It’s really just great. So I haven’t be too well, for months actually I’ve been especially run down and my blog has been suffering. Which is a shame because it’s something I enjoy (although sometimes I definitely don’t enjoy some elements of blogging which you can read about in my blog on the state of blogging here). I’m not stopping blogging, I just can’t do it as much as I’d like. I am posting a bit more on Instagram (if you fancy following there).

There is a point to this. Self-care is so important when you’re going through a rough time physically and mentally. Something seemingly so small can have a significant impact on your well-being. I love a face mask especially and try to do one, at the very least, once a week. Also, now that I’m older (I just turned 40!!!), having a therapeutic skin care regime is also part of my self-care. Taking little moments in the day to just slow down and take care of yourself is so important and having a relaxing skincare regime is one way of easily incorporating some self-care into your daily routine.

the best treatment oil for sensitive skin

You can read my initial post about the wonderful Samaya Ayurveda Kapha moisturiser here. I also talk about ‘dosha', this is how you discover which range is best for you. So please do give that a read to understand how this unique skincare brand works. I’ve now been using the Kapha Hydrating Cleanser*, the Kapha ant-Ageing Cream* and Kapha Ant-Ageing Treatment Oil* in conjunction with each other for over a week. I would normally leave it a bit longer to review but I want to tell you all about them *right now*. I’ll start with my favourite product, the anti-ageing treatment oil, because boy is it good.

I’ve used quite a few treatment oils and one of my favourites is Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil (which is brilliant and highly recommended btw). What I like about it is that it immediately makes your skin look better as well as improving it over time. It’s rightly a cult hit. It’s always the treatment oil I turn too when my skin just needs a little pick me up, that is until now. Samaya Anti-Ageing Treatment Oil* is absolutely amazing. Every time I apply this (which has been every single night since I got it) my skin just looks amazing. Samaya’s treatment oil sinks in much easier than Kiehl’s and leaves absolutely no greasy residue, which I can get with the Kiehl’s version. My skin looks like I’ve been drinking all the water, eating all the greens and getting all the sleep with Samaya’s oil. That’s just after one week of use, I’m in love. If I had to pick fault with it is that it is a bit pricey at £79 but I’ve only been using one pump and that does all my face and neck so it will last ages. The price is also indicative of the quality of products, it’s organic and free from all sort of potentially harmful chemicals. It’s also packed with active ingredients to help combat signs of ageing such as wrinkles, dullness and gives radiant, plump skin. This is definitely one of the best skin care products I’ve used. Now we’re moving into the harsher months with cold weather and central heating it’s a good idea to add an oil to your skin care regime, I can’t recommend Samaya Treatment Oil enough. It's a really lovely way to finish the day and feels like a proper treat. The aroma also helps with the overall feeling of well-being.

oil for antiageing

Next up is Kapha Hydrating Cleanser*. Like the other products in the Kapha range the cleanser smells of frankincense. The other key ingredients are sandalwood oil, vetivert oil, gotu kola oil, ashwagandha root extract, aloe leaf extract, and vitamin e. It literally is packed full of ingredients that will help care for your skin. The other cleanser I’ve used that I can best compare this with is Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish, but I do think Samaya’s cream cleanser is better. Samaya’s cleanser is more hydrating on the skin, after use it feels like I’ve already applied moisturiser. It’s gentle yet very effective. I prefer to use this as a morning cleanser or as a second cleanse, but that’s just personal preference (I’m used to an oil or a balm cleanser). Again, the only complaint I’d have about this is the price at £69, but this is a very high quality product so I think you get what you pay for.

I’m a huge fan of Samaya Ayurveda skin care range. I love the products and the ethos behind it. The treatment oil is a particularly outstanding product and if you only buy something from this range I’d definitely opt for that but all the products are wonderful.

What’s your favourite thing to do to treat yourself? (and yes, you DO deserve it)

  2. So sorry to know you are not feeling well. I personally deal with insomnia and anxiety (few times accompanied with nausea) and sometimes gets really hard to sit down and produce good content because you feel so tired and can't focus. Hope you feel better soon. Big hugs! x
