'Tis the season for cocktails and for a good cocktail you need a good sour mix. The sour mix I'm going to do is basically sugar, water (to make a simple syrup), limes and lemons. This would also be great in mocktails. All you really need to remember is use equal parts then you should be alright. I used this to measure my ingredients. This holds roughly 125ml water, lime, lemon, and 125(ish) gram of sugar. But you can make more, it's all about equal(ish) measurements. 6 limes and 5 lemons should get you around 125ml of each juice.
In the above photo I've brown sugar, I changed this to white sugar. It's easier to dissolve, but you can use whichever you prefer.
Chop the lemon and limes up and squeeze the bejesus out of them. If you're doing it by hand please take care if you have any cuts etc.
To make the syrup all you do is add equal parts sugar and water (125ml and 125ish g), then stir until the sugar is dissolved. When this is done add the lemon and lime juice to the liquid and pop it in the fridge. That's it! This tastes much better than shop bought stuff and takes no time to make.
Add a little fancy garnish to your cocktails by making Cranberry and Lavender Ice Cubes. You can add anything you like really, I just happened to have cranberries and lavender at hand. Berries would look really nice, gold/silver food glitter would add a nice bit of bling. All you have to do (I don't really need to tell you do I) is add the cranberries and lavender to your water in the ice cube tray, et voila!
Enjoy!

Interesting idea and I like the fact that you can make your own mix! Perfect! Great photos by the way. I will be sure to come back to jot down the recipe or at least have my iPad at the ready to follow the directions.
ReplyDeletethanks very much! I'm still learning but it seems to come out really nice and it's went down well which is always good :)
